Mediocrity, accepted.
Unquestioned because it’s easy,
Life lived halfway
Until one day, wrinkled,
Aged,
You look at the broken shutter
Hanging from the upstairs window
Where you first prayed as a child,
When you still believed.
Doubt crept in, unexpressed,
Visible but not loud.
Disbelief hangs in your mind,
The moon in the sky.
Living a double life, but
Moon always shines,
Present when it’s new,
Present in you, reminding you –
You are two.
